Mcleodganj is calling and I must go!!

Mcleodganj is a beautiful hill station in the heart of Himachal Pradesh. It is situated in the outlying district of Dharamshala. It is the home to the Tibetans. Over the years, McLeod Ganj evolved into an important tourist and pilgrimage destination and has since grown substantially in population. Mcleodganj is considered more of a tourist spot. Tourism is an important industry in McLeod Ganj. The picture shows the famous Dalai Lama Temple. The temple is open daily, from sunrise to sunset, and visitors are welcome to explore the peaceful ambience of the surroundings.

At Mcleodganj, We stayed at the Una Comfort Great Himalayan Adventure Resort. The resort is situated in an amazing location. It is around 1-1.5 km from the main city. Being away from all the crowd and hotels, the experience of this hotel was something different. The resort is named after the famous temple of Bhagsunath. It has camps all around the resort. Mcleodganj is the city of organic cuisines. The best period to visit this place is all through the year. Lastly, the view from the resort is the beautiful city of Dharamshala.

We went to the Bhagsu waterfall. It is one of the popular tourist spots of Mcleodganj. The walk to the waterfall is about 15-20 minutes depending on the speed. You will find some shops on your way provided with tea, water etc. I went to Mcleodganj for 3 days and it rained badly all the 3 days. Luckily on our way to the waterfall, it stopped raining and we reached in no time. The path is a little tricky in the rains but then it is certainly worth a visit. When we reached the falls, we had a cup of tea and Maggie. The weather was beautiful and mesmerizing. At a distance of around 2km, you will find the famous Shiva cafe. If you go to the falls, do not miss out on Shiva cafe.

You will find many shops at the main city surrounded by some amazing food outlets. Mcleodganj is famous for its shopping as it results in exciting experiences if you bargain and purchase local items like Tibetan carpets and mats.  Mcllo is one of the most famous restaurants of Mcleodganj. It serves delicious food and the terrace sitting has the best view. But don’t prefer a terrace sitting on a rainy day.Woeser Bakery is a famous bakery and serves some delicious cakes. The quantity is also very good. The town is also known for Tibetan handicrafts, Tibetan carpets, garments and other souvenirs.

Mcleodganj is 9.2km from dharamshala. On our way back to Delhi, we went to the Dharamshala stadium-Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium. The stadium is usually open until 7 pm on weekdays for tourists. I have never seen a stadium as beautiful as this one. The pitch is extremely green. The seats are colourful and the weather adds up to the beauty of the stadium. It’s not one of those big stadiums which are there in Metropolitan cities of India.
